Compare components: EN, DIN and ASME to the same scale

Two or three components side by side – flange, elbow, tee, reducer, cap, torispherical head or pipe, to EN, DIN or ASME. The 3D model shows all parts to the same scale, the table sets the dimensions against each other and states for every difference whether it lies within the dimensional tolerance.

Choose the parts

Loading the dimensions …

On: parts 2 and 3 follow when part 1 changes size. Changing them by hand switches it off.

This comparison shows dimensions only. Whether one part may replace another is decided by the applicable code, the pressure rating, the material and the inspection documents – not by the dimensions.

The standard names dimensions. What is listed here, we carry – from stock or to order; how quickly a size is available we clarify on request.

How to read the comparison

  • A row is a dimension, not a letter. The standards name the same dimension differently – the letter of each standard is shown in brackets after the value. Where two standards measure different things, they get two rows: for elbows, for example, “back of bend to centre” (EN: B, W, Z) and “centre to end” (ASME: A).
  • Calculated values are marked – for example the thickness of an EN flange without raised face, or “back of bend to centre” of an ASME elbow. They have no tolerance of their own.
  • The difference column gives the difference to part 1. If the limits of size of both parts overlap, it reads “within the dimensional tolerance”, otherwise “greater than the dimensional tolerance”. The “Show tolerances” switch shows the limits themselves.
  • Inches appear only for ASME parts, as the value of the standard in brackets. EN and DIN parts are in millimetres.
  • Link sizes: when part 1 changes size, the other parts follow – with the same outside diameter, otherwise the nearest one. For flanges, the outside diameter of the pipe counts, not the nominal size.

How this data is compiled. This page does not reproduce a standard. It shows the dimensions you need for an enquiry, an order and installation – for sizes we supply, checked against manufacturers’ and suppliers’ documentation and against our own product data. What you see here is what the market supplies, checked against the standard – or calculated by us. How we select our sources and keep them up to date: About this knowledge.

Source of the figures: the same data records as on our dimension table pages, limit deviations to the standards named there. Weights are calculated – EN and DIN parts from the nominal dimensions at 7.85 kg/dm³, ASME parts as a calculated value, torispherical heads per material at 7.85 or 8.0 kg/dm³. All dimensions of a standard

Each column of the comparison leads to its dimension table with dimensional drawing, 3D model and limit deviations. All pages are listed under Dimension tables & drawings.

Frequently asked questions

How do the dimensions of an EN flange and an ASME flange differ?

Choose both parts on this page – the table sets outside diameter, flange thickness, bolt circle, number of bolts and bolts against each other and states for every difference whether it lies within the dimensional tolerance. Whether one part may replace another is decided by the applicable code, the pressure rating, the material and the inspection documents – not by the dimensions.
